Truth: I have been stressed the FUCK out lately. I get it, it happens to everyone. And let me tell you, it takes a huge toll on your body!

I’m exhausted no matter how much sleep I’ve gotten, craving sugar, breaking-out, and completely brain fogged. It’s not cute.

When I saw that my local yoga studio (Jiiva Yoga Center, Stratford CT) was offering a Yoga Nidra class, it was as if it was being called to me. I didn’t think twice and signed up.

Yoga itself does freakin’ wonders on your mind and body. Your mind and body are always engaged. Yoga Nidra means yoga sleep. It is anything but.

The way I would describe it, is a very deep, connected meditation. Your mind is fully aware that you’re awake as the instructor calls on things for you to focus on.

This was like a very relaxing acid trip. You’re awake, but asleep, but engaging with your body. IT WAS AMAZING. You focus on your intention (or Sankalpa) then transition into this deep, wonderful mediation. Your body gets lighter, your mind guides you through every word the instructor says.

At the end of the class, I felt lighter (mindfully speaking) than I have in I don’t know how long. I felt the thoughts of negativity drift and my mind is in a great place. I encourage anyone and everyone to try this class!

Side note: I was driving home reflecting on the class, and I saw the moon was in a waxing present phase. I'm a huge nerd when it comes to all things space. This means that to relax in your intention and breathe.
